Private sleep studies, explained
A sleep study gives an objective picture of what happens during your sleep. I will always explain why I am suggesting one, and make sure you feel prepared.
Types of sleep study
One night at home
Home sleep apnoea test
A small, lightweight device worn overnight in your own bed. It records airflow, breathing effort, oxygen levels, heart rate and body position.
One night
Video polysomnography
The fullest study available. It records brain activity, eye movements, muscle activity, breathing and video through the night, in a laboratory or at home.
Days to weeks
Actigraphy
A watch-like device worn for days or weeks. It measures movement and light to show your sleep and wake patterns over time.
Which sleep study is right for you?
| Study | Home test | Video polysomnography | Actigraphy |

What to expect
Not everyone needs a sleep study.
My role is to recommend the right test for you, one that gives us the information we need without unnecessary complexity. You will always be able to ask questions and make an informed decision.
“Most people find sleep studies far more straightforward than they expected.”
